About Movie
Majimu (ITO Sairi) is a timid office worker from Okinawa, raised in a family of traditional tofu makers. When her company launches an internal business competition, she surprises everyone by pitching a bold idea: crafting Okinawan rum from locally grown sugarcane. Despite having no experience under her belt, Majimu’s growing passion challenges corporate scepticism, family expectations and island politics. What starts as a simple idea takes on a life of its own, as Majimu’s venture evolves in unexpected ways. A charming underdog story, HAGA Kaoru’s directorial debut celebrates perseverance, community and the unique spirit of the sun-soaked Okinawan islands.
