  3. Tag @gscinemas , @warnerbrosmy & @thepawscollective.my in the post and include the hashtag #CatInTheHatMY.
  4. The account used to enter must be set to public from the time of posting until the winners are announced, so that the Organisers can verify the entry.
  5. Participants may submit multiple entries. Each entry must be a separate post with a different photo or video.
  6. Instagram Stories are not valid entries, as they expire after 24 hours. Entries sent by direct message or email are also not accepted.

5. Entry Requirements and Content Guidelines

  1. The entry must be an original photo or video created by the participant, featuring a real cat that belongs to the participant or whose owner has given permission. Entries that are fully AI-generated are not valid.
  2. The cat's safety and comfort come first. Hats must not cause the cat distress, discomfort or harm. Entries that show a cat being forced, distressed or harmed will be disqualified.
  3. Any other identifiable person appearing in the entry must have given consent to be featured and published.
  4. The entry must not contain content that is offensive, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, violent, sexual, political or religious, or that promotes any other brand, product or cinema operator.

  6. Participants are responsible for complying with the terms of use of Instagram or TikTok.

6. Winner Selection

  1. Winners will be selected by random draw from all valid entries received during the Contest Period.
  2. There will be 15 winners. The draw will be conducted by the Organisers on or about 26 October 2026.
  3. Each participant can win only once, regardless of the number of entries submitted.
  4. The Organisers may draw reserve winners to replace any winner who is disqualified or forfeits the prize.
  5. Winners will be contacted by direct message (DM) on Instagram or TikTok. Winners must reply to the DM within 48 hours to confirm their passes.

7. Prizes

  1. Each winner will receive two (2) preview screening passes to a special preview screening of The Cat in the Hat at Velvet Cinemas by GSC, Sunway 163 Mall on 1 November 2026 (the "Prize").
  2. Passes are valid only for the stated screening and are subject to seating availability. They cannot be used for any other film, date, time or cinema.
  3. Admission is subject to the film's classification by the Film Censorship Board (LPF) and GSC's admission policies.
  4. Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable, and cannot be redeemed for cash. Lost, damaged or expired passes will not be replaced.
  5. Winners are responsible for their own transport, food and beverage, and any other costs not stated as part of the Prize.
  6. If the Prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Organisers' control, the Organisers may substitute a prize of equal or similar value.

8. Attending the Screening with Your Cat

  1. Each winner is entitled to bring one (1) cat to the preview screening. The two (2) preview screening passes are for human attendees only, and each winning entry is limited to a maximum of two (2) human attendees and one (1) cat. The cat does not require a separate pass and will be provided with a designated carrier seat beside its owner, subject to the approved seating arrangement. The cat must remain under its owner's supervision at all times throughout the event.
  2. Admission is by the preview screening passes only. No walk-in admission will be permitted.
  3. The cat must be healthy, free from visible signs of illness and up to date with age-appropriate vaccinations. It should be used to travelling in a carrier and reasonably comfortable in unfamiliar environments.
  4. The cat must stay inside a securely closed, well-ventilated carrier at all times inside the cinema hall and must not be released or allowed to roam. Owners must bring their own carrier, which should be clean and preferably lined with an absorbent pee pad.
  5. Carriers must be kept secure and stable throughout the screening and must not block walkways, emergency exits or other guests. GSC staff may direct owners to an alternative designated position where the seat is unsuitable.
  6. Owners are solely and fully responsible for their cat's safety, health, welfare, supervision, hygiene and behaviour throughout the event, and must not leave the cat unattended at any time. Where the owner is under 18, the accompanying parent or guardian carries this responsibility.
  7. Owners must watch their cat for signs of distress. A cat showing significant distress must be taken to a quieter area or removed from the screening. Owners may leave the hall at any time, and should keep their cat away from unfamiliar cats to avoid stress.
  8. Owners must follow the instructions of GSC staff and event organisers on safety, hygiene and animal welfare.
  9. Owners are fully liable for any damage, loss, injury or mess caused by their cat to the venue, its property, other guests or other animals, and must pay for any repair or cleaning needed.
  10. GSC and WB may refuse entry to, or ask an owner to leave with, a cat that is unwell, aggressive, distressed, unsuitable for the screening environment or disturbing other guests, or if safety, cleanliness or animal welfare standards cannot be maintained. No replacement passes or refunds will be given.

9. Hygiene and Venue Arrangements

  1. A waterproof, non-slip hygiene mat will be placed under each carrier to protect the cinema seats.
  2. Owners must clean up immediately after their cat and dispose of waste properly. A pet cleaning station with cleaning supplies and waste disposal will be available outside the cinema halls.
  3. Owners must report any accident, spill, damage or injury to event staff immediately.
  4. Owners are encouraged to bring familiar blankets, absorbent pee pads and other comfort items for their cat.
  5. The cinema hall will be cleaned and sanitised before the event using products suitable for the cinema's surfaces and safe for cats, and will be fully dry and ventilated before cats enter.
  6. For the cats' comfort, the hall lighting will be brighter and the sound lower than at a regular screening, and capacity will be controlled to leave space between guests and carriers, subject to GSC's technical assessment.
  7. Guests bringing cats must use the designated pet-friendly lift and approved access routes, and follow the mall's and GSC's pet policies. Pet-friendly access is available in designated areas only, subject to mall regulations.
  8. Pet strollers may be used to bring cats to the cinema but must be parked in the designated stroller holding area outside the hall where required. Cats must be moved into securely closed carriers before entering the hall.
  9. Photography and filming may take place during the event. By attending, winners (and, for minors, their parent or guardian) agree that GSC and WB may use images and videos of attendees and their cats in promotional materials for the Contest and the film.
  10. The Organisers may change screening arrangements where needed for safety, hygiene or animal welfare. All event arrangements are subject to final operational approval by GSC and the venue management.

10. Winner Notification and Prize Redemption

  1. Winners will be contacted by direct message on Instagram or TikTok from the official @gscinemas account. The Organisers will never ask winners for payment, banking details or passwords.
  2. Winners must reply within 48 hours of being contacted and provide their full name, contact number, email address and, for winners under 18, their parent or guardian's details.
  3. Passes will be issued on the event day. Winners may be asked to show photo identification, and a parent or guardian must do so for a winner under 18.
  4. A winner who does not respond in time, cannot be contacted, or does not claim the Prize by the stated date will forfeit the Prize. The Organisers may then award it to a reserve winner.

11. Intellectual Property and Content Usage Rights

  1. Participants keep ownership of their entries.
  2. By entering, each participant grants GSC and WB a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to repost, reproduce, display and publish the entry, including the participant's social media handle and the cat's image, on their websites, social media channels and promotional materials for the Contest and the film.
  3. Each participant confirms that the entry is their own original work, that they hold all rights and consents needed to submit and license it, and that it does not infringe any third party's rights.
  4. All names, logos, characters and artwork relating to The Cat in the Hat belong to their respective owners. Participants may not use them for commercial purposes.

12. Personal Data

  1. Personal data collected for the Contest, such as names, contact details, social media handles, entry content and, for minors, parent or guardian details, will be handled in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (as amended) and GSC's Privacy Policy at https://www.gsc.com.my/abac-policy.
  2. The data will be used to run the Contest, verify eligibility, select and contact winners and issue Prizes.
  3. The data may be shared with WB and service providers engaged for these purposes.
  4. By entering, participants (and, for minors, their parent or guardian) consent to this use of their data.
  5. Participants may withdraw consent or make data requests by contacting cs@gsc.com.my. Withdrawing consent may mean the participant can no longer take part in the Contest.

13. Disqualification and Fair Play

  1. Entries are invalid if they are missing a required tag or hashtag, were posted from a private account, or were edited, hidden or deleted before the winners are announced.
  2. The Organisers may disqualify any participant or entry that breaches these T&C, uses fake, duplicate or automated accounts, tampers with the Contest, or involves abusive behaviour towards the Organisers or other participants.
  3. The Organisers may ask a participant to verify their entry or identity. Failure to do so may lead to disqualification.
  4. A disqualified participant forfeits any Prize, which may be awarded to a reserve winner.

14. Limitation of Liability and Platform Disclaimer

  1. The Organisers are not responsible for late, lost, incomplete or invalid entries, or for technical failures such as platform outages, network faults or account suspensions.
  2. The Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Meta or TikTok. Participants release these platforms from any liability relating to the Contest.
  3. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Organisers and their officers, employees and agents are not liable for any loss, damage or injury, including to any pet, arising from participation in the Contest or use of the Prize.
  4. If the preview screening is rescheduled or cancelled for reasons beyond the Organisers' control, the Organisers will offer a reasonable alternative and have no further liability.
  5. Nothing in these T&C excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Malaysian law.

15. General

  1. The Organisers may amend, suspend, extend or end the Contest or these T&C at any time, including for reasons beyond their control. Changes will be posted on GSC's official channels.
  2. The Organisers' decisions on all matters relating to the Contest are final and binding. No correspondence will be entertained.
  3. If any part of these T&C is found invalid, the remaining parts stay in force.
  4. These T&C are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the Malaysian courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
  5. If there is any conflict between the English version and a translation, the English version prevails.
  6. Questions about the Contest may be sent to cs@gsc.com.my.
