Experience the Resonance of Global Cinema at MIFFest 2026

The 9th edition of the Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) returns to GSC

taking place from 18th to 25th July 2026, exclusively at GSC MyTown KL. 

This year MIFFest will present 65 films from 35 countries and regions in 27 languages, bringing together an inspiring spectrum of cinematic voices, cultures, and perspectives from around the world, featuring 2 World Premieres, 1 International Premiere, 3 Asian Premieres, 12 Southeast Asian Premieres, and 28 Malaysian Premieres. More than a showcase of films, MIFFest continues its mission as a dynamic platform for cultural exchange, fostering meaningful connections between filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences through the universal language of storytelling. 

Returning signature sections include A-Lister, showcasing acclaimed works from internationally celebrated auteurs; Neon, spotlighting emerging filmmakers shaping the future of independent cinema; Manifesto, presenting thought-provoking documentaries and non-fiction storytelling; ASEAN On Screen continues to celebrate the diversity and creative vitality of Southeast Asian cinema through six films from Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore while Malaysian Dispatch, highlights the creativity, diversity, and growing strength of contemporary Malaysian filmmaking. 

Among the new additions to the lineup this year are Hong Kong Cinema in Flux, celebrating the vitality, creativity, and continual reinvention of one of Asia's most influential film industries, Through bold storytelling and distinctive cinematic voices, the selection reflects the resilience and enduring global appeal of Hong Kong cinema. New Rhythms of Indian Cinema, a special showcase celebrating the remarkable diversity, artistic richness, and evolving voices of one of the world's most influential film industries. Korean Cinema: A Culture in Motion celebrates the richness and global influence of South Korean cinema through two specially selected films: Bluefish, directed by Lee Sang-hoon, and Mr. Kim Goes to the Cinema, directed by Busan International Film Festival founder Mr. Kim Dong-ho. Russian Film Week in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and ROSKINO makes its inaugural appearance at MIFFest with a curated showcase of five films spanning classic masterpieces and contemporary works.

Beyond the screenings, festival goers can also look forward to a dynamic lineup of Masterclasses, Forums and Panel Discussions featuring acclaimed filmmakers, industry leaders, and creative talents from around the world, offering unique insights into the art, craft, and future of cinema. Together, these programs reflect MIFFest's ongoing commitment to championing bold voices, cultural exchange, and cinematic discovery from around the world.
