The 2nd China-Malaysia Film Culture Festival celebrates the enduring friendship and cultural exchange between China and Malaysia through the power of cinema. Organized by Lomo Pictures Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with GSC International Screens and The China Film Archive, and supported by FINAS Malaysia, the festival presents a rich program of screenings from 30 May to 8 June 2025 across GSC Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur and GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang.
Audiences will experience a thoughtfully curated selection of films—from restored classics to contemporary gems—that reflect the cinematic heritage and evolving narratives of both nations.
Beyond the screen, the festival offers dynamic opportunities for learning and exchange with forums and workshops. Acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Clifton Ko will lead acting workshops, while the AI Forum: AI – The Director of Movie? will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping filmmaking.
With all film screenings priced affordably at RM10, and available via GSC e-payment channels, the festival invites everyone to explore, exchange, and celebrate cinema as a bridge of cultural understanding.

Synopsis: This chinese “silent film” tells the story of an unnamed woman (Lingyu Ruan), who lives as a streetwalker by night and devoted mother by day in the streets of Shanghai, China. In avoiding the police, the young woman comes under the inadvertent protection of a criminal boss who assaults her, then coerces her to work for him. Brutally forced to continue street walking, the woman nevertheless begins saving money secretly in order to send her son to a good school.
