Every seat in GSC holds a story. Mine began long before I knew how much those stories would mean to me.

I was 10 when I first stepped into a GSC cinema—tiny hand clutching my dad’s, eyes wide as the golden lights dimmed. We watched an animated movie, but I remember nothing of the plot—just the sound of my dad’s laugh echoing in the hall. That was the day movies became magic to me.

Over the years, GSC became my second home. Birthdays, first dates, heartbreak recoveries, solo escapes—it was always GSC. I celebrated with popcorn, cried into tissues, and sometimes just sat in silence after the credits rolled, letting the emotions wash over me. It was more than entertainment. It was therapy.

One of my favorite memories was organizing a surprise movie night for my mom. She hadn’t been to the cinema in years. I picked her favorite movie, got GSC vouchers, even asked the staff to help bring out a slice of cake. She cried—happy tears. GSC helped me give her a memory we’ll both never forget.

There’s something beautiful about watching a movie with strangers—how we laugh, cry, gasp together. For those two hours, we’re not different people. We’re one audience, one heartbeat.

GSC gave me more than great films—it gave me connections, comfort, and countless memories. It’s where stories on screen became part of the story of me.

#mygscstory started at one night around 2011. I had just finished a tough week mostly for my studies felt heavy and very exhausted. So I decided to watch a late-night movie alone. The movie? I remember until now, Ombak Rindu. On that night, it felt like the movie was very related to me. I cried a little bit quietly to be honest. Thankfully no one saw as the hall quite dark and I book the ticket right around the corner of the hall wall. I felt very healing at that time because I can express my feeling freely without consent anyone will judge you. The hall and the movie gave me space to feel for the first time in weeks.

GSC didn’t just show me a movie that night. It showed me a moment of feeling and how healing I’ll always hold onto, even though I have been for a long rough weekend. 

And of course, if I ever felt down or stress at something I will take a time usually mid night to watch a movie at gsc alone like that to heal and fix my emotion. 

So GSC isn’t just a cinema. It’s a place where my memories are made quietly, my place to heal my emotion and it has become my tradition until now . It’s where my life slows down, unconnected to outside world and hearts remember how to feel.

So no matter how far I go or how much I grow, GSC will always have the place in my heart.

This story is actually quite funny and a little frustrating at the same time. It happened when I was watching the movie Ne Zha 2. There was a very touching scene where Ne Zha’s mother dies and turns into a magical elixir. The whole theater went silent—it was a really emotional moment.

But suddenly, in the middle of that silence, someone said, “Po Chai Pills…”

If you’re Chinese, you’d probably know what that is—it’s a traditional medicine that many of us have taken since we were kids. It comes in little brown pellets that look very similar to the elixir in the movie.

So there I was, about to cry from the emotional scene, but when I heard that comment, both my colleague and I immediately stopped feeling sad and just burst out laughing.

I’m not sure whether to call it a good or bad experience, but it definitely left a strong impression on me.

I was born in 1979, the eldest of five siblings, raised in a humble home in Ipoh. Growing up, times were tough. We couldn’t afford cinema outings, DVDs, or even TV entertainment. But what we did have was the unconditional love and warmth of our parents, who always found ways to create meaningful memories for us.

That’s why March 1995 holds a special place in my heart. On my birthday that year, our parents took us to the GSC Cinema at Ipoh Parade our very first movie outing. The film showing was Ram Jaane, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. I can still remember the excitement of stepping into that cinema for the first time: the red velvet seats, the smell of popcorn, the darkened hall, and the larger than life screen. It wasn’t just a movie; it was magic. It was a moment that made us feel like the world had opened up just for us.

Because of our financial situation, trips to the cinema were rare and reserved only for birthdays. But each time we went, it was more than just entertainment it was family time, a celebration of love and togetherness. GSC became our place of bonding, a sacred space where we laughed, cried, and dreamt together.

Three years ago, we lost both of our beloved parents. Since then, my siblings and I made a quiet promise: we would continue the tradition and watch movies only at GSC, where their presence still lingers. Each visit is a heartfelt tribute to them. Sitting in those familiar seats brings us closer to the memories we shared the laughter, the joy, the love.

Now, as we bring our own children to GSC Cinema, we pass on this legacy of love, togetherness, and cherished memories.
For us, GSC isn’t just a cinema; it’s a symbol of family a place where the past and present converge, keeping the spirit of our parents alive in our hearts.

Thank you, GSC, for being more than just a cinema. You’ve been the keeper of our most precious memories a place where love lingers, laughter echoes, and the spirit of our parents lives on. Thank you for giving us a home where memories don’t fade they grow stronger with every visit.

The memory of the last time holding my mum's hand watching the last movie in her life still lingers in my mind. The last movie we watched together was a comedy. It was also the last time I saw my mum lift up her lip corners, letting out the "long-lost" smile after being wheelchair-bound for few years.
Yes. It was indeed a tough job for my sister and me to push the wheel chair to the cinema and we had to choose the last row of seats so that it would be easy for my mum to enter the cinema. Luckily, the whole process was quite smooth and we realised that the cinema was quite friendly to wheelchair-bound patients like my mum. Although my mum was diabetic, we ate Gourmet popcorn together as if it could be one of the ways to unwind ourselves from our daily routine. 

Really! I had not seen my mum smile for so long. Having seen her last smile in my life leaves good memory until today. There is no regret anymore. 

Now,I have my own child and my family. Spending time watching Snow-white and Minecraft with my child seems to arouse my memory yet reminds me to always leaves good memories to my child and my family.

30-07-2003 — a day I’ll never forget. It was the day of my very first date, and also the very first time I stepped into a cinema. That day, at GSC Mid Valley, marked the beginning of our relationship — a journey that eventually led to marriage.

From just the two of us going to GSC cinemas back then, we’re now a family of three who still enjoy movie outings together. Sometimes, it even feels like a kindergarten trip when we bring along our many nieces and nephews — a whole troop of little “monkeys” joining the fun!

Saya masih ingat lagi, masa mula-mula GSC buka dekat Kulim Central tahun 2022, saya antara orang yang paling excited. Sebelum ni, kami di Kulim cuma ada MBO je, tapi lepas GSC ambil alih dan buat pembaharuan, suasana dia terus berubah jadi lebih selesa dan moden terasa macam berada di panggung besar dalam bandar.

First movie saya tengok di GSC Kulim Central waktu tu filem aksi, dan sejak dari hari tu, saya tak pernah pandang belakang. Setiap bulan, saya akan rancang dengan adik-beradik atau kawan-kawan nak tengok filem apa. Kadang kami gelak sama-sama dalam hall, kadang keluar mata berair tengok ending sedih semua itu kenangan yang kekal dalam hati.

Alhamdulillah, sekarang saya dah 23 tahun, dan GSC bukan sekadar tempat tengok wayang, tapi tempat saya bina memori, dari zaman remaja sampai nak masuk fasa dewasa. GSC Kulim Central is my escape, my happy place, and my storytelling ground. Terima kasih GSC, for giving us a space where emotions come alive and memories are made.

MYGSCStory is a truly nostalgic one. Since I was 5 years old, I’ve been watching movies at GSC in Kuantan Megamall—specifically at GSC Berjaya Megamall in Kuantan. My father used to bring me to watch family-friendly action movies.

But for me, the most nostalgic part wasn’t just the movies—it was the ads that played before the film began. Thank God they haven’t changed even until now. Every time those familiar ads come on in the theater, I feel a lump in my throat—they never fail to make me emotional.

The most memorable movie experience with my dad was watching Transformers (2007). It became our favorite series—we watched every installment together up to The Last Knight. It was always such a thrill: the stunning 3D graphics, the booming surround sound, and the excitement of the story itself.

But the memory I hold dearest is when we traveled all the way to Genting Highlands to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. My father had already driven from Terengganu to KL, then from KL up to Genting. He was so exhausted. During the quiet scenes, I remember whispering excitedly about the story—and then hearing my dad softly snoring beside me.

Now that I’m older, I realize how much love and effort he put into creating those memories with me. Every GSC movie, every trip, every laugh—we shared it all. Whenever I step into a GSC theater, it’s like stepping back in time. And even if my dad isn’t there beside me anymore, I still feel him in every seat, every scene, and every second of the film.
