The 8th Latin American Film Festival was officially launched recently at GSC Pavilion KL, with a special screening of the Venezuelan movie Miranda Returns for invited guests and dignitaries.

Playing host for the evening was His Excellency Alejandro Gordillo, Ambassador of Peru. Guest of Honour for the evening was Yang Berhormat Senator A. Kohilan Pillay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The evening started off with cocktails and light refreshments, followed by a welcome note by His Excellency Alejandro Gordillo and a toast to the guests. Alter a short speech, Yang Berhormat Senator A. Kohilan Pillay officiated the launch of the 8th Latin American Film Festival. The guests then adjourned to the hall for the movie screening.

Also present were Datuk Mohd. Nor Bin Atan, Undersecretary Americas Division Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, ambassadors from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay, Venezuela and Spain. The other guests include Mr. Mario Miranda (Chargé d'Affaires of Ecuador) and Mr. Tung Yow Kong (GSC Senior Manager, Distribution).
