Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) is the leading film exhibitor and distributor in Malaysia.

GSC is a subsidiary of PPB Group (a member of Kuok Group). PPB Group is listed on the stock exchange of Malaysia. It is a diversified group with interests in food industries, environmental engineering, utilities and waste management, property and entertainment.

FILM EXHIBITION

GSC currently has a total of 183 screens in 23 locations strategically located in prime sites in the key cities and towns nationwide. This includes Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Sungei Petani, Penang, Seremban, Malacca, Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu. The latest GSC cinema is the 8-screen GSC Suria Sabah, which opened for business on May 20, 2010 with the first ever digital 3D hall in Sabah.

GSC also operates Malaysia's first-ever boutique cinema with only Gold Class and Premiere Class halls – GSC Signature in the Gardens Mall, together with three F&B outlets (Paradiso, Cafe Caro and Dessert Bar). GSC Signature provides an enriching experience via the spacious interiors, thick plush carpet, luxurious surroundings and attentive staff. The 18-screen GSC Mid Valley, currently the largest multiplex in South East Asia and other flagship cinemas (Pavilion KL and 1 Utama) offers cinema-goers the ultimate movie going experience with a Gold Class auditorium, International Screens and an Audio Visual convention auditorium.

In June 2008, GSC was the first cinema chain to introduce digital 3-D films in Malaysia and digital 2-D films in May 2009. GSC currently has the highest number of digital halls (23 halls) in the country.

In 2011, GSC plans to open a 6-screen multiplex in Mentakab Star Mall, Pahang in Qtr 2. By Qtr 4 2011, GSC will add a 9-screen multiplex each in Setia City Mall, Shah Alam and The Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya. GSC is also planning for a 11-Screen cinema in Nu Sentral Mall by Qtr 2, 2012.

"Glitters", GSC's F & B outlet cum merchandise store are located in GSC Gurney Plaza, GSC 1 Utama (New Wing) and GSC Pavilion KL. Movie related merchandise and gifts are sold here and also in Mid Valley Glitters Merchandise store.

Customers can also purchase their tickets via GSC e-payment ticketing (online) which is available at GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama, GSC Berjaya Times Square, GSC Pavilion KL, GSC Signature, GSC Alamanda Putrajaya, GSC Gurney Plaza, GSC Queensbay Mall, GSC Sunway Carnival Seberang Jaya, GSC 1Borneo Kota Kinabalu, GSC Dataran Pahlawan Melaka, GSC Tropicana City, GSC IOI Mall Puchong, GSC East Coast Mall Kuantan and GSC Suria Sabah Kota Kinabalu.

GSC also launched a customised co-branded credit card in 2009 : the GSC-EON Bank Credit Card which offers discounted ticket pricing (for adult tickets), concession and F & B in-dining for the movie patrons.

FILM DISTRIBUTION

GSC is the biggest distributor of independent Chinese, English and foreign language films from companies like Media Asia, Emperor Motion Pictures, Mandarin Films, Summit Entertainment, Mandate, Lakeshore, GK Films, Wild Bunch, GMM etc.

CineAd Sdn Bhd first commenced operations on January 1, 1991 to represent its two shareholders, Golden Communications Sdn Bhd and Cathay Organisation Sdn Bhd for screen advertising, which was subsequently merged to form Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd. As a full subsidiary of Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) since 2002, CineAd also represent some independent halls and undertakes other media sales within the cinema vicinity and GSC online ads @ www.gsc.com.my.
